Just finished a few hours ago, is the Celebrity wedding of the year – Marian and Dingdong’s. Common people were looking at the widescreen posted outside the Immaculate Conception church in cubao. Upon images of Dingdong and Marian, clapping and cheers poured on constantly. Several celebrity guests were shown- Ogie Alcasid, Lucy Torres, KC Concepcion and so on.
Funny though, when the camera pointed to Mr Aquino, only crickets could be heard. These were weird moments of silence in a very festive occasion.
Then when the cameras went back to the GMA talents, bride and groom, happiness resumed. Silliness is evident, As if everyone goes, “ok lets just ignore him and eventually the program will continue”.
What an awkward and much talked about moment is this. Now this is a real crowd. You can feel the resounding sentiment in the area. Despite the joyous event, people felt no impulse to clap and cheer the president. It is as if the president betrayed, failed them. Not even a clap. Noynoy should have hired clappers. If the polls and satisfaction surveys were true, you would see it represented in the crowd. Turns out, majority of people are not impressed with the leadership (and the polls and surveys).
The question is, who is at fault? Are the number of people at fault for not knowing the accomplishments of the President? Or is the president wrong, distant from the people, and importantly, insignificant to the public?
Vic Sotto, Ryza Mae, Vice Ganda, Vicki Belo, and the other celebs shown are cheered, it is an insult to see none for the Philippines leader. It is a wake-up call for our leadership, for them to be worth something. The eerie silence of the wedding onlookers show the real everyday disappointment of the Filipino.
As the other celebs shown are cheered, it is an insult to see none for the Philippines leader. It is a wake-up call, to either put up or shut up. The disgust of the wedding onlookers show the real everyday disappointment of the Filipino with the president.
